Lots of mineral and natural stones, Jade, Turquoise, Bamboo Coral etc, you get the idea as well as a few crystal pieces and a new line of Breast Cancer support pieces. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of this years pieces. Then I am also doing a showing at a friends Open House the following week. I can't wait to do this and yet I can't wait to have it finished so that I can spend some QT with my little guy who is turning 4 on the 5th. Big party for my big guy. Can't wait to start making that Dinosaur cake!!
Stay tuned for an update on how the Open House goes.

November Open House

The countdown to Christmas has begun we have 53 days left. Now I know it sounds like a long time and that we don't have to start thinking about gifts just yet. Well I felt like that in July, no need to start working on my jewelry right away, just enjoy the baby and worry about work later. Well she's 4 months old and my Open House is 26 days away and although I have some pieces made up I have no where near enough for a Holiday Open House.

That said wouldn't it be nice to have some of your presents bought ahead of time? Wouldn't it be great to have a day of fun and shopping with out having to fight the crowds at the mall? Well no need to daydream, come to my open house, there will be jewelry, Mary Kay products and some other christmas crafts. Whether you are shopping for your sister, aunt, niece, kids teacher, or even your mother in law, there is something for everyone and every budget. Plus you can pick up something for yourself as well, or make a wish list for santa (aka hubby) and slip a business card in his wallet he can give me a call and I'll set him up with one of the items on your wishlist, wrapped up with a bow, easy peasy.

It will be held on November 28, 2009 1pm - 4:30pm at my mothers in Ormstown, Quebec, Canada. For privacy issues I am not going to post her address online, if you are interested in attending please send me and email and I will give you the address and directions on how to get there from where you are.

Happy Holiday Prep!

A few little changes

I just wanted to take this time to mention that this blog will be changing a little bit. Instead of just having my Jewelry on here I am also going to blog about my most recent cakes as well as any News I have from Mary Kay. I am getting into Photography as well as some sewing so I will blog about all of those projects. For now here is the site for my cakes: http://www.kellyscakecreations.com/

and I am hoping to get one going for my sewing and other hobbies soon. I will for sure be doing one for Mary Kay so that I can showcase any new products as well as headline any offers we have going. I will be sure to advise everyone when that site is up.

Christmas is Coming

I am back after a little break to bond with my newborn. My daughter arrived July 1st and I have been spending my time watching her changes and enjoying the little things.

But seeing as it is already midway through October I have decided to Buckle down and get working on as many pieces as I can to have a bigger collection ready for Christmas this year. I am not happy about talking about Christmas just yet but I have to face the facts, it's on it's way.

I am drawing my inspiration from the fall colors and the general feeling of the season. I hope to have alot of Natural Gemstone pieces made up as well as a lot of pieces with hand worked wire elements. I attended the Bead Oasis Show in Montreal in August and although it wasn't nearly as big as it is in other cities I got alot of nice things. great deals and a couple of Christmas presents.

So as I get things made I will keep this updated, please remember to keep checking the Galleries at http://kellysjewelrycreations.shutterfly.com/

Some of my pendants are in!!

I am excited to let you know that one of my pendant orders has arrived and I have gotten them photographed and added to the Shutterfly gallery. Go check them out they are alot of fun, there is another shipment that will be coming in sometime in the next week or two so I will be sure to get more of them up for everyone to see.

I also have 3 pieces going in for judging at Ormstown Fair and one piece that has been alot of fun... "Article made from recycled material, not wood" I have made a neck lace from the tabs on pop cans. I had a blast coming up with it so please if you are at the fair go on up to the industrial building and check it out.

Galleries Up

Hi everyone I wanted to let you know that I have my galleries up with the exception of the pendants as I am awaiting an order. This will continue to be my blog where I will show any new techniques and keep everyone up to date with what I'm up too but it was smarter to link up my galleries so that you can watch everything as a slide show instead of having to search for it.

I hope you enjoy the galleries.

I have a friend who is getting married this year and I decided to make up a couple pieces and hopefully one of them will work with her dress and her personality.

I was getting so bored looking outside at the snow every single day I decided that I was going to start getting some pieces made up for spring, this is my first completed piece. It feels more like summer it reminds me of all the colors you associate with a watermelon. It was so much fun to make and I think it'll be even more fun to wear. Hope everyone likes it as much as I do.

News

Here are the first two pieces I have finished in this new technique. I'm enjoying making them more than I expected.

I am a fan of bigger beads and beautiful glass pendants, but I am not very brave about trying weaving, looping or other techniques that involve stringing with a needle and the little bitty beads (seed beads). I decided that this was something I had to get over if I was going to be a "real" jewelery maker. So I signed up for a class at my local bead store and had a lot of fun learning the technique called twist, it's really cool. I have a bracelet done that I made in class as well as a necklace that I started as soon as I got home from the class. I have to say that I feel really dumb for being nervous to try this technique as it is fairly simple and beautiful when finished. I am very happy with the results as well as my ability to come up with new patterns and ideas that arrive from mistakes that I make along the way. I enjoyed the class so much that I signed up for another class at the end of the month. The next class will teach the technique for making "Russian Ropes" its more time consuming but also yields beautiful results. I can't wait to post pictures from the next class and to post pictures of all the things I come up with between now and then.
